City rail transit police frequency
Hi I was wondering if anyone had the frequency for the transit police? I have heard it is a really good listen especially on a Saturday night:)

Transit Officers use the NSW Government Radio Network. At the moment they are found on the 4.1 (analogue) Motorola Smartzone UHF Trunking network, but around February of next year will be migrating to a P25 Motorola digital trunking network.
Therefore they do not use a specific frequency. Trunking employs a pool of frequencies, the system smarts assigns a channel as and when required. Further, the frequency that is assigned will depend on which site the radio is near. A bit like cell phone technology.
To monitor any TO transmissions you will need a digital trunking scanner, like the UBCD396T from Uniden, the DTS96 previously sold by DickSmiths, the GRE PSR500 amongst others.

Spoken like a true transit policeman there Rusty.....

I think folk inside the railways are not clear about the words "transit police" themselves
I often read incident reports and i am not sure whether folk are referring to the commuter crime unit (the real Transit Police ie serving police officers) or the security division transit officers (who I believe have certain limited powers ie detain until police arrive, write infringements etc). Just an observation

yes true grant, and then to confuse the issue some Transit Officers are also Special Constables so they have more authority than a normal transit officer...

Anywhere between 412 and 420MHz

JUst wondering when the Railcorp Transit Officers go over to the apco25 will they be in the clear. It sure is interesting listening sometimes when you hear some of the accents on the radio. What about the contract security that are also on the same talkgroups, will they still be on the Apco25 GRn if they get encrypted.

Hahaha, I wonder if anyone has done tests on the P25 IMBE vocoder when the user has a severe accent!!

yeah that would be interesting... over 80% of the guards i've heard on the CONSEC channel are a waste of time and effort having them there...
