Re: GRN P25 testing has started.
My mistake Richard, I was talking about the migration of the various services, not the network itself. I spent about an hour driving around Canberra searching for Ctrl Chs and the only ones found were the established type II sites, maybe they plan on changing over all sites at once instead of the gradual approach that NSW has taken?
And BTW, I didn't say "single Comcen", I said "common Comcen". I don't know if there actually is a backup Comms Centre but as you say, they would be silly not to have a redundancy plan in place?

Hi Andrew,
That's OK- I read it as single, which is my mistake.
You should see the ACT sites switched over very soon. The switch over is going to happen in the next few months (my guess 2-3 months) unless there are unforeseen problems with the links but I doubt that is going to happen as the link upgrades are moving very quickly now.
Cheers,
Richard

Sounds like that may have been off Mt Coonambro which was Zone 1 Site 37 on the old system?Longreach wrote:...coming back thru Forbes today and spotted the first control channel out the central west for the P25 system. came up on my pro 96 as site 0215 cc was 417.300mhz...

the one 'comcen' i do know of it in Curtin a few km west of Parliment House. the ESA however are moving to a new home out at the old RAAF base at Canberra airport, im not sure however if there is a backup there already.I didn't say "single Comcen", I said "common Comcen". i believe all the ESA stuff has the same profile, just from listening and watching unitrunker. the SES and RFS use the same TG's a lot of the time and in quiet periods quite often there are 3 TG's patched together. there are even times where the RFS and SES are on the same TG's. quite often the RFS will employ a fireground 'channel' TG to stay off the main channel. and also you hear from time to time act parks people slip over to the RFS OPS channels for a quiet chat only to be told by comcen to 'go away'

Hi all,
The latest update I have is that 32 sites are in wide area P25, a big increase on the past fortnight. Good progress in the NW (Dubbo area).
Cheers,
Richard
