Okay okay my new site http://scanner.criten.org is just about done. At least I'm not doing any more work on it today.

Comments? Suggestions? Feedback? Link exchanges/suggestions?

Channel labels are sent in ID3 tags. If you use Winamp you can easily see the ID3 tag.

OK, just listening through the page. Not interested in installing more apps on this PC. I'll try the link in Media Player. For those who want the link, just got this from the page source

I don't know why you'd need to view the page source to get that... http://scanner.criten.org/listen.html links to http://icecast.criten.org/streams/01.mp3

I use edcast. The ID3 tags come from edcast's ability to grab window titles of other apps... it just then monitors id tracker iii which also runs on that box.

On that note there also appears to be some useful loss from the MP3 encoding process... the UBCD396T is well known to have popping audio when it tunes to a P25 channel and my unit does this. But when you listen on the stream it doesn't sound so bad.

fair enough i run both scannercast and radiofeed. prefer radiofeed at this stage.
both good encoders, radiofeed is a bit easier and will work with a lot of scanners. even the 396t.
have a look into it.

Haven't seen radiofeed but I didn't like scannercast because it used to crash all the time.

Having recordings from ID Tracker III is also really neat. Half the time my discoveries of anything are done in recordings and not actually by listening to the scanner.

http://www.proscan.org/

I quite like it seems to be a lot more flexible than scannercast and a lot more options. if you need to work on radiofeed you dont nessessarily have to stop it like scannercast.
