SES Forward Command Vehicle

Post by cartman » Mon Sep 20, 2010 12:01 pm

I was at the Cabramatta Moon festival yesterday and happened to see the "Bankstown SES Forward Command Vehicle BKK9" leaving the site at the conclusion of the event
Presumably that was the vehicle that was co-ordinating the movement of SES crews (on the analogue GRN network) yesteday who were manning the road closures
Is this a one-off vehicle or one allocated to each region?

Garry is better qualified to answer this grant, but i know it depends on the region and what their priorities are as to whether they bother funding a forward command vehicle.

Some units like my old one Ku-ring-gai do alot of fund raising for extra gear so if they deemed it necessary they could probly get one...

Generally speaking though I think most units just pitch a tent and use portable radios to deploy crews if they are at a PR event or use the Command Post if they are communicating with their crews on a land search..
