RFS Pagers Gosford and Hornsby District
Hi guys,
Just after some info on what frequency(s) the RFS pagers run on, if they are only audible or if they run alphanumeric ones as well and also the different capcodes used.
I'm mainly after Hornsby and Gosford (Mt White/Calga Brigade).
Cheers,
AJ

the short time i was in comms, the only messsages we could send were AlphaNumeric, but there were some tones attached to them eg there was a different tone for a firecall compared with normal paging messages..

and all RFS pagers are on 148.5875mhz. youll find though given how powerful the transmitters are you'll pick up a quite far reaching area. when i ran a UHFCB antenna last summer i was picking up pager messages hundreds of kilometers away, its not uncommon.

it also depends on the paging network apparently as the way the guy that looks after Gosford RFS paging told me was the network that gosford are involved in also carries The Lakes RFS, Warringah Pitwater, Wyong VRA, Gosford RFS and a few others which is where they get the large areas covered so if your in say Gosford RFS but in newcastle you will still get firecall pages..

Wow, at 148MHz? I'd see if they QSL... lol That is great propagation!
I think others have explained how that works, you ain't hearing the base hundreds of kilometres away!
