Strategic Network on 78.1625 (Mid North Coast)

Post by crafty » Wed Sep 16, 2009 10:59 pm

Hi everyone
I found this frequency on the ACMA a few years ago and only just recently noticed activity on it. I've figured out and can confirm this is part of the RFS Strategic Network. The location of 78.1625 is Point Lookout (a ~1500m high mountain) which will potentially give you coverage from Port Macquarie in the south to Grafton in the north and Armidale to the west.

Also wondering the purpose of this VHF frequency (National Parks/State Forest liason)?

cheers Allison

Crafty I understand these mid band channels are a strategic network used for air to ground fire fighting purposes.

stratnet is only used for RFS State Ops to speak to whoever they need to, from what i've been told its not something districts generally use much unless they are instructed to.

Aircraft use their own aviation channels or the rfs pmr/grn channel depending on what district your in

I have logged 78.1625 as having CTCSS 110.9hz. It's been very active with the bushfires in the Clarence Valley.
