VRA

Post by Garry » Mon Jun 08, 2015 11:27 pm

does anyone here monitor the VRA ?

from my base I monitor Wyong and Cessnock Units.

I have the list that has been posted on this forum previously, but I'm trying to find out which frequency and ctcss is confirmed in use by any particular unit around the state

Thanks in advance for any help

Well, there not active in my area anymore, but the VRA as a whole supposedly installed a couple of Repeaters around the Sydney Metro area after 9/11, in case a major incident occured in the CBD and the VRA were called in to assist. Have never heard of the repeaters ever being used, or if they were even ever installed.

I haven't heard them for ages, they are in my scan list. I know they still attend MVAs but I seem to always miss hearing them.
They were using 77-79MHz last time I heard them from memory. In my area they seem to mainly cover around Bega so its quite limited in the jobs they go to.

In the Albury area i believe they use mobile phones now. No longer have access to VKG. I have Freqs programed but have not heard them to date.

With most VRA Squads lossing access to local VKG channels, many VRA Squads have complained about communication issues between VKG and individual VRA Squads seeking updates on incident locations etc, there has been talk around establishing a central VRA Call Centre that would act as go between between VKG and responding VRA Resources.

As you could imagine the VRA being a non-Government orginisation, staffing, logistics and funding of such a proposal is a little issue
