I would have thought between ambo scat, fire rescue, police rescue and then ses they would have more than enough resources. As well as the USAR gear the nswfb has got in various locations

Yes I do believe VRA Units would be called in to assist in a Support Role in a September 11 style attack here in Sydney if the incident was large enough.

They may not be directly involved in the search of survivors of a major building collapse, but I can see them being used for a secondary search of damaged surrounding buildings, traffic control, logistics and other tasks, performing similar tasks as the SES, Red Cross, St John Ambulance and Department of Community Services.
