Gosford RFS going P25 PMR

Post by astro_boy » Wed Dec 04, 2013 12:07 pm

Gosford RFS will be going p25 within the next month or two. (Middle of fire season?)

All sites are listed on the acma database as being active but nothing heard yet.
It's surprising some places that the current pmr system reaches inc inner & western sydney.

E060 RFS PMR Cnv Gosford COWAN 420.05
E061 RFS PMR Cnv Gosford SOMERSBY 422.025
E062 RFS PMR Cnv Gosford MT WHITE 422.15
E063 RFS PMR Cnv Gosford KINCUMBER 424.0125
E064 RFS PMR Cnv Gosford BOOMERANG 424.125
E065 RFS PMR Cnv Gosford SIMPSONS HILL 424.25

NAC 214.

Where did the information come from that they are switching over in the next month or so?

From the grapevine! can you shed any further light on this ?

I notice its one of the few districts that are completely listed on the acma DB.
For example near by districts, Horsnsby, Wyong, Lower hunter are missing many sites form the DB.

Interesting I've just confirmed that on the ground the brigades are being told just after christmas... Not a smart move, most organisations including ESO's have change freezes over busy/IT holiday periods and something like a roll over to a new radio network would be one of them!

I guess they have Analogue PMR and GRN as a roll back plan but still...

I wonder how long it will take the techs to find out after rolling over to P25 PMR that they haven't configured Voting on the digital PMR channels in the V10.4.3 profile...

Thanks for confirming that. I also thought it was a very strange time to do it!

Interesting about the voting issue, from listening it sounds like the radios Home button goes to the GRN channel, no longer the PMR.
And in Gosfords case GRN is not patched through to the PMR a few calls have gone unanswered, lucky only yellow calls.

should be fun times ahead.

Yep when i was a member of Gosford Comms they never bothered patching the grn into their main pmr vote group unless it was required for comms to a unit that was not within the pmr footprint.
I'd be surprised if they do go p25 as some of them up there are absolutely brilliant, but some are just absolute shocka's
