Hornsby RFS - Hornsby Heights Tower

Hi all,

Does anyone know where this is actually located? I was in Asquith a few days ago, and I flicked my scanner over to 466.4500 due to obvious close proximity reasons. The reception was very poor, if not completely unreadable. Cowan and the SAN sounded better! Is this actually located in Hornsby Heights, and if so; what was with the poor reception?

I'm guessing it's directional, and pointed towards the gorge, Galston, Cherrybrook, etc.? Doesn't seem to work much east of that location.

Search it up on ACMA and click Antenna ID. It will show all sorts of useful information on brand/type of antenna

I believe it is suppose to look more down Galston Gorge area.

That is interesting becuase a couple of weeks ago the crews were carrying out location signal strength reports over the weekend and I got the impression that the general consensus from the experienced hands was that the site at the Seventh Day Adventist Hospital (SANS Wahroonga) was under-powered.

They discovered early last week that it was all some kind of 'software problem', not hardware. It's since been resolved, and now it reaches places in the Lane Cove National Park, where it previously couldn't. 'Ops Coms 3' was the one you probably heard saying it was underpowered, I heard him do some checks on all the towers and he confirmed it.
