Hi all,
speaking from here, most of them have gone and brought 396XT's. with the police down here also on digital plus of course the GRN most decided thats what they'd do. A few i talk to arnt too woriied about being able to talk on the new network, just mainly want to hear whats going on. They were put off by the price of the P25 radios.

Do we wish to start a listing of the new pmr frequencies fo everyone to easily access ?
Personally my area is not digital just yet but i do see listings on ACMA already.

Hawkesbury RFS changing over tonight to P25 PMR. bit of testing and comm checks happening at the moment. All stations being told to leave radios on the new P25 channels from tonight.

Hi all,

Not sure if there is much logic to this but the new RFS profile pretty much gives away who will be rolling out the P25 PMR networks.

As mentioned by another member this doesn't mean services already in place like GRN will be turned off, many use GRN for aviation, group officers back to FCC as ops liaison channels and use PMR for tasking, appliance allocation etc.

Info I have:

West - Bourke, Brewarrina, Bland/Temora, Canobolas North, Canobolas South, Cudgegong, Central Darling, Cobar, Mid Lachlan, Mid West, Bogan, Coonamble, Walgett, Orana.

East - Baulkham Hills, Blue Mtns, Chifley (Bathurst), Lithgow, Gloucester, Great Lakes, Gosford, Hawkesbury, Hornsby, HQ, Hunter Valley, Illawarra, Lower Hunter, Hastings, Taree, The Lakes, Wingacaribee, Wollondilly.

Everything changed for the NSWRFS (GRN-wise) a year or so ago; they used to be charged for GRN access on a per radio basis but were cut a deal for a bulk monthly flat rate charge for all of their radios instead.

That's when a lot of districts started trialling the GRN ahead of their own PMR digital upgrades, some (such as Lake George) appear to have abandoned (or at least delayed) upgrading their PMR because GRN coverage was adequate?

I'm curious how the RFS will handle large fires. Say for example, a large fire breaks out in Hawkesbury, and units from Blue Mountains are sent in... with radios that don't support P25...

Blue Mountains, along with every RFS district will eventually have P25 PMR.

All RFS radios across the state are getting upgraded to a new profile. It has been going for nearly 12 months now and given the amount of radios to be done it wont be over yet.

If your a volunteer you would have been shown the changes to the radio already as there is a lot of changes.

In regards to the RFS P25 PMR network, are the P25 frequencies the same for each area as the previous analogue frequencies for those areas, or have new frequencies been allocated?
