Heard this about 1140am this morning (Mon 23/5/11)

Echo 87 aka CTO87
Radio ID logged
Dispatcher had no idea who they were until they stated CTO

Was in the immediate area for a job and offered to respond
Obviously has some clinical medical skills

Any suggestions as to identity?

Grant

Found an interesting document on Google that suggests in the NSW setting, CTO may equal clinical training officer (??)

http://centreforhealthcom.org/wp-conten ... Online.pdf

This report discusses the issues and protocols for paramedic/emergency dept interface. Interesting reading

Feedback on "Echo 87" from one of the emergency monitoring gurus suggests it maybe a clinical training officer with "extended care paramedics"

Just twigged to the "SOP" callsigns i keep hearing as being one and the same as the Ambulance Special Operation vehicles
One of them drove past my place with the siren blaring and when i looked at my "Sydney West" GRN logs I discovered it was "SOP 41"

SOT are the special ops vehicles Grant.. Special Operations Team... an ambo once explained the SOT people's role as they are ex-ambo rescue operators that are running around in their own vehicles doing medical related duties but with extra training... He told me they are one step down from SCAT

November 87 (Clinical Training Officer) heard in the Port Macquarie area around morning tea-lunchtime 31/12/2011 when a couple of marine incidents occurred in rapid succession ... a boat swamped near Town Beach, then a leisure craft sinking after colliding with the Settlement Point Ferry - 5 people thrown into the water, then conveyed to hospital.

87 must be the number used for CTO's as I hear Sierra 87 call up a bit on the south coast/tablelands PMR channel. He seems to be based down the coast from my monitoring.
Cheers
Matt

That would sense as the Mid Nth Coast dispatcher was actually calling them the "Clinical Training Officer"
