Rural West TG 44288 Re TX on 412.750
Hi,
As the title says i've noticed that the Rural West TG 44288 is re transmited on 412.750. The TX site is listed as Glenbrook. Does any one know why this is done? It may have been mentioned before, cant remember, anywhy if you don't have a trunking scanner you can listen to the Ambo's in the montains on that freq, the retransmitted audio is a bit crap though.
Regards
Kev

I would say part of an Sydney Based Emergency Backup Radio System.
I think I was sent something of such a system sometime ago.

Ambo north have been doing this for a while on 413.025 at RNS and 413.225 at Wahroonga. I was told it was to fill GRN reception holes in the area. They only fire up with the occasional car and operator transmissions and I haven't worked out what triggers the simulcasting.kevnerd486 wrote:Hi,

That's probably why the ambos have these PMR repeaters at nearly every hospital and certain other sites such as Razorback and Hurstville. Many years ago the GRN shutdown altogether for half a day and all ambo operations were done on these repeaters.JAFO wrote:I would say part of an Sydney Based Emergency Backup Radio System.

OK,
Can remember talking to an Ambo Radio Tech about this back in 2006 at the Sydney Rescue Expo – while manning the WICEN Table Kev, I think you know him too!!!
Back then the network was near completed and was established after a couple of GRN outages left the Ambulance Service with no Radio Communications within the Metropolitan areas.
From memory, a handful of Repeaters were installed at geographically sites and selected Hospitals that would provide reasonable coverage throughout the Metropolitan areas.
I don’t think these are part of a 24/7 network either, I am felly positive these (well in Sydney anyway) only becoming active for routine testing and when the GRN suffers a prolonged outage or goes down without warning.
Perhaps the Ambo’s are nearing switching to the P25 GRN and are ensuring this system is ready to go as a backup network if needed.

Alas... if they only had disaster recovery talkgroups... so much easier to use & cost nothing to maintain!Mike Alpha wrote:That's probably why the ambos have these PMR repeaters at nearly every hospital and certain other sites such as Razorback and Hurstville. your completely correct, when I had the GRN guys out at RNS giving me a quote on a repeater I posed that exact question about the ambo repeater...
