New ambo south west channel???

Post by Mike Alpha » Sat Sep 26, 2009 11:04 am

Just heard the ambo controller on Sth West channel tell a car to switch to the "new South West Channel" that covers MacQuarie Fields, Campbelltown, Camden, Picton and Bowral. She said to switch to Incident 3 which I have as TG 44368.

Not hearing anything on it yet.

Can anyone confirm if this is a permanent switch?

That talkgroup is now active on Razorback and Horsley Park.

Was active on the way home from work today Mike (you know what time that is roughly).
I don't see why it would be permanent, of course stranger things have happened.

On Trunk 88 it is known as PATCH 1ACD or Sydney Southwest supergroup.
Talkgroup 44368 seems to be patched in during peak periods (eg this morning between 6.30am and 10.30am) whereas at the moment it is showing Talkgroup 44240.
I would be interested to understand what the Patch does and what the multiselect function (MSEL) does.

I think they are doing what they used to do with the west and rural west channels. I've noticed between 10am and 10pm, roughly, they patch the two channels together. I suppose there's no need to have two operators running 2 quiet channels overnight. And they are calling the new channel the Far South West channel.

Still trying to get my head around it
On the log for yesterday for GPT it shows 44368 patched in between 6.30am and 10.30am then 44240 appears
However on the trunk88 screen the Southwest supergroup patch id seems to be active throughout the entire day and night when the operator or cars transmit.
I wonder if on GPT with the patch 44240 appears and from Mt Gilbraltar and other SW sites 44368 appears.
I listen all the time on the Uniden 780 (amongst other analog and digital scanners) from my inner west location on the 44240 talkgroup
