Westpac 4 at Gold Coast University Hospital

Post by Mike Alpha » Tue Sep 11, 2018 10:20 am

I just heard Westpac 4 chopper on the GRN State 1 MRU talkgroup say they are landing at Gold Coast University Hospital.

Don’t know what height they were at but would this have been NSW GRN all the way or some sort of PMR patched into the GRN??

Are these patched to the ‘STATE 1’ TG cartman, or used for the local ambo channel?

So which PMR channel would the Westpac chopper have switched to to talk to MRU (STATE 1)?

NSW P25 GRN - Site Listing (current)

Post by Scotty » Wed Sep 12, 2018 10:07 pm

Could there be a link between the GWN and GRN for that talkgroup? If the RID for Westpac 4 is being displayed, that would suggest some link, would it not? Or at least access to a GRN tower. Otherwise I’m thinking a RID for the PMR link would be displayed.

Mike, about what time did you hear the call come across? Might be able to look back though Unitrunker records, which might give an idea of the RID.

I hear those type of calls everyday, the RID shows as zero on my logger, but if the aircraft is in a GRN footprint it shows its RID

I heard the call not long before I posted. Tuesday 11th before 9:20am.

I thought the same thing re a link between the GRN and the GWN because the audio was normal GRN audio. Usually with PMR patched transmisions the audio is a bit different.

Flightradar24 shows Westpac 3 landed at GCUH at about 9am.
