Strange callsign???

Post by Mike Alpha » Tue Jan 10, 2012 9:56 pm

A friend rekons he heard NSWFR units use a callsign similar to Heart (Hart?) 1 and 2 last night attending a car fire in Berala. He's adamant that's what he heard.

Can anyone confirm or deny that's what he heard?

There's an aircraft with similar callsign but doubt they call up for car fire

There was the Careflight HIRT chopper that would call up on police and ambulance channels, but that was for head injuries only. But I think the HIRT has concluded, I can't remember the last time I heard them. Either way though, the HIRT chopper wouldn't be calling up on the firies channels, so would have to be something else.

HART is the new "Hazmat Advisory Response Team (HART)" that has been established which responds to Hazmat Incident State Wide.

The team is made up of Hazmat Technicians and the FRNSW Scientific Advisor who respond either in FireAir1 or by road as needed with a range of Specialised detection equipment and sampling kits in support to Hazmat & Station Crews as needed.

1 HART Team has been active since about August last year and extra members were recently recruited to establish another 2 Teams late last year I believe.

Thanks Grant, I'll let my mate know he wasn't hearing things.

A few more previously unheard FRNSW callsigns if anyone can shed any light...

The first may be what Garry heard except I thought it was "OCMO" or simular?

And the others were "PESCO" (or something like that) & "SRO" which both attended an LPG tanker MVA on Bulli Pass (or was it Mt Ousley) the other day?

The next sit-rep after the SRO callsign called code 3 included the fact that the superintendent was now on scene so I'm guessing that may be the "S" in SRO?
