Before the GRN and FIRECAD Came-in in the Sydney Region, Responding Crews on Station Bells sounding would get a print-out which had the Operational Channel for the Zone that the Call was within, when responding into another Radio Channel area we were told by State Communications to what Channel you had to change to, now . . . the wheel has gone full circle and Crews are advised on the ESCAD Print Out what Channel to switch to and also told by the Radio Operator when the crew puts their Code 1 in.
Good in a way, under the old system out here in Sydney West we had a Radio Boarder if you like, that divided Region's North & West from Region's East & South, you did not hear any of the Radio Traffic from over that boarder unless you changed channels, so Stations like 73, 41, 101 could not hear radio traffic from 8, 7, 31 or 49 even thou they may be backing up each other.
