Easy...

Put a "D" in front of each channel- same frequencies but with a NAC of 100 for 501-510, and a NAC of 110 for 511-513.

Did channels D501-D505 stay wide band or change to 12.5kHz spacing?

And I assume the old analog incident channels are being phased out and will disappear in the full P25 profile?

Hi Andrew,

All of these channels are narrowband. The 471MHz channels were wideband in the past but they are now set up as narrowband.

There has been no decision made on when or even if incident ground comms will move to P25. There are pros & cons to it that need to thoroughly understood by the users before existing analogue simplex gets phased out.

It is very likely that all of these frequencies will change in the next 2 years because of the band plan. When that happens comes down to how fast other services move (because we can't move to new frequencies if the existing services are still there) & of course the $$$$$ associated with yet again reprogramming a few thousand radios. We definitely want to keep some simplex channels above 450MHz for future appliance based cross-band applications. Not saying that this will happen, just we don't want to close off the option by giving up these frequencies.

Can you confirm what frequency is the repeater output? The 421 or the 428 range?

Don't want to dig up an old thread but just clarifying if A501-A505 stayed 25khz spacing or changed to 12.5.

I understand that Digital D501-D505 is 12.5 bandwidth, but I just want to confirm if the radio profile still has 25khz spacing on these channels for analogue or if it is also 12.5khz.

It's neither here nor there... 2 x 12.5kHz= 25kHz. They are now programmed as narrowband channels (notional 2.5kHz bandwidth). A501=D501, same freq, same bandwidth, different modulation. The channels haven't changed, just the receive & transmit bandwidth as ACMA want wideband licences gone. It also results in a very slight spectrum access cost saving. At this stage these 471MHz channels remain but by 2018 they may need to be shifted into the harmonised government spectrum, however for now ACMA have advised that narowbanding them is sufficient. We need to keep them up high in case we want to implement cross-banding in appliances (don't get excited- no plans to do that yet but we never shut a door unless we have to).
