my pet hate is when people have a little panic attack and just stop in the middle of the road in front of you, and it's always where there's one of those damn fences down the medium strip that councils are so fond of puting up!

Yea, I'd hate that as well. Swearing my head off is already a mandatory part of driving without a siren within normal driving regulations.

I thought it was the radio op/person riding shotgun who did the radios anyway, makes more sense they run the MDT.

Nobody wants to confirm the RFS Fire Ground freqs? Although I heard a couple times now in the last few weeks RFS members testing "new radio profiles"

The only thing I don't have are the PL tones for the VHF simplex frequencies (if they use them), somebody else might be able to help out with them?

Ahh, I assumed from a previous post that VHF was replaced by UHF. Are you saying both VHF & UHF are in use?

It depends on the local SOPs for each D/T/Z but yes, Shoalhaven RFS for example still use VHF Fireground radios.

there threatning to use UHF Field ops here, but so far were still on CB.
i heard the region north excercises were all field ops digital, apparently wasnt great due to terrain aand running simplex.

I'd love for them to move away from UHF CB and use the Field Ops channels but it means they would have to put their hand in their pocket and buy portable radios for the brigades so you can basically forget about that idea!

The Motorola Tech is at 217 station this morning.
When he was doing a couple of checks I didn't hear him but I could hear Wollongong repliying. Not sure why?
I will continue listening for a while and see what I can find out

Ahh, I have a feeling that Blue Mountains still use VHF as well. Probably makes sense given the terrain and size of our fires.

Volunteer or not, its still pretty scary that an EMS uses UHF CB... while our state is paranoid about spending thousands per handset to make the professional EMS's encrypted.

The patch has been removed (long story) so they are using "multiselect". This means you hear the op but not the other half of the conversation.
