Fire & Rescue NSW is the state’s first line of defence. When everyone is running out of a burning building, firefighters the ‘Firies’ head in. It is one of the world’s largest urban fire and rescue services protecting the lives of over seven million people. Firefighters are the fire, rescue and hazmat specialists. Their skills and expertise are well-known and respected around the world.

The observational documentary series following the courageous and selfless work of two platoons. B Platoon in Sydney’s inner suburb of Glebe and D Platoon in Liverpool, the city’s outer west.

Firies are a jovial bunch but when the bell rings, everything changes. The Firies slide down the pole, board the fire truck, sound the sirens and hit the road to do their job helping people in trouble and protecting property. Throughout the series we follow the Firies as emergencies unfold. Riding with the Firies in their trucks, standing beside them as they battle raging fires, cutting open crashed cars to save passengers. We see the flames up close, hear the deafening roar of a fire and are blinded by thick choking smoke.

Firies provides a rare insight into the inner workings of one of the world’s largest fire services; peering through the smoke and flames and into the heart of emergency missions. From Sydney’s biggest property fire in ten years to three car crashes in one day and electrical fires, we discover the people Firies are fighting for.

Firies are prepared for anything and their training is some of the toughest in the world. Whether it’s a factory fire, building collapse or car accident every time the bells ring NSW’s Firies are ready.

It's certainly not meant for entertaining other Firefighters :-) .... but .... probably not a bad thing to give some snapshots of FRNSW. Its appraoch appears to be "what would be interesting to the general public". A bit like some shows that focus on Australian police and on Border Protection.

So for "informed" folk like scanner heads and firefighters, there may be other shows at Saturday 18:00 that may be appropriate!

Are these shows are good way to educate people on how things can easily go wrong.Fire safety, don't drink & drive (RBT) ,don't drive unregistered (Motroway patrol), drive safely & to the conditions (Crash investigation unit), don't bring band items into the country (Border security), behind the scenes on a drunk night out (Kings Cross ER)!
