New FRNSW Channels - August 2014
New FRNSW Channels - August 2014
Haven't had a chance to listen properly to FRNSW for a while but today noticed crews were being directed to new channels that I didn't recognise. I'm not sure how long this has been in effect for, but I can't see it mentioned in this section or the GRN section.
Seems from a quick Google that there has been a rename of their channels. Talkgroups appear mostly unchanged, however each channel appears to have been renamed to correspond to the area or region that it covers
http://www.nswgrn.com/fire-rescue-nsw.htm
If the above is correct then the new channel names certainly make more sense that the previous ones.
10101 (now '101 ME1 A') and 10106 (now '105 MS2 A') still appear to be the main patched channels for Sydney, which may be why I hadn't noticed any real change.

Also a link - http://sydneyfire.net.au/radio-info/frnsw/stations/ which has the Stations -> Area/Zone.

Nice. Very similar to Steve Banham's 'Stations' software. Do you know if that link is more up-to-date?

A New Radio Profile was added a few month's ago.
Each Zone now has it's own Channel, so you will hear appliances being told to change to Channel 107 MW1 etc

In my 25 years with NSWFB/FRNSW, I've never seen any maps that show Radio Zones/Area's for NSWFB/FRNSW, only Station Channel allocations. Apart from a small number of Vote Channel areas, majority of the Channel allocations are town based.
There use to be a map that divided up the State between the 4 Communications Centers, but since there as only Newcastle & Sydney Comm's now, it is a little out-dated.

With the new profile have all of the operational TG's had a change to their alpha tags?
