NSWFB Rescue Station Up-date

Post by JAFO » Fri Nov 14, 2008 7:02 pm

Hi all.

Well, to date since the NSWFB had taken over Rescue Responsibilities from the ASNSW, some 65 Firefighters have been Trained Up as Primary Rescue Operators and sent back to their Stations. Another 90 odd Firefighters are expected to be trained and back in their Stations by February next year.

We received the first up-date (more to come) on what is proposed by the Brigades Management with relations to the NSWFB Rescue Coverage across Sydney, pending State Rescue Board approval.

The proposal which Firefighters feedback has been called for, will see a couple of Heavy Rescue Appliances being relocated with an additional Heavy Rescue coming online, 1 additional Primary Rescue Station come online and another Secondary Rescue Station coming online.

This is the proposed NSWFB Rescue Coverage across Sydney:

Sydney South West:
• Picton is proposed to be upgraded from secondary to primary accreditation to increase rescue coverage in South West Sydney, provided the District Rescue Sub-Committee and State Rescue Board agree.
• The current primary accreditation at Macquarie Fields is proposed to be transferred to 101 Bonnyrigg Heights, as 84 station adjoins 8 station Liverpool which is also a rescue station. Moving to 101 will provide enhanced coverage, again subject to approval.

Sydney North West:
• Consideration is being given to locating an heavy rescue / salvage at 102 station Regentville.
• Secondary Pump / Rescue has recently been accredited at 489 Warragamba with joint response protocols to identified areas to increase rescue service delivery.
• NSWFB secondary rescue accreditation at Richmond and Windsor remain unchanged.

Sydney South:
• It is proposed that the existing accreditation at 46 Station Sutherland will be transferred to 54 Station Cronulla to more closely reflect the former Ambulance rescue locations, while maximising coverage. This will also even out the current response overlap between 33 Engadine and 46 Sutherland.
• Secondary Pump / Rescue has recently been accredited at Bundeena with joint response protocols with 33 Engadine to identified areas to improve response times.

Newcastle:
• The existing pumper at Newcastle is to be modified to a Pump/Rescue to enhance rescue capabilities in the area and supplement the new accreditations at 222 Belmont and 464 Toronto.

Well everyone would have heard in the past week the Government Back-flip on Ambulance Rescue, well the State Rescue Board meet yesterday to review it.

Well the vote is in. We got notice today from Greg Mullins NSWFB Commissioner that the State Rescue Board after lengthy consideration voted not to reinstate the Ambulance Rescue Units

Yesterday the State Rescue Board (SRB) considered a request that the 8 Ambulance Rescue units that had been decommissioned on 4 September 2008 following a decision by the former Minister for Health to withdraw them, be re-accredited for a period of 12 months. During that time it was proposed that a review take place to determine how rescue paramedic's skills could be best utilised.

The State Rescue Board after lengthy consideration of all of the facts, recommended to the Minister that the arrangements put into place on 4 September 2008 (de-accreditation of 8 Ambulance Rescue units and accreditation of 9 NSWFB units) should remain in place, as they have proven to be effective, efficient, and have improved rescue coordination. The SRB noted that there have been no identified gaps or deficiencies in rescue service delivery as a result of the changes that could justify additional or changed accreditations.

The Minister for Emergency Services last night approved the SRB recommendations, and the changes made on 4 September have therefore been confirmed as a permanent arrangement.

Yea OK, did not include the Blue Mountains Region, so you can also include 445 Springwood as a Secondary Rescue Unit as well,

For the whole list visit: http://www.emergency.nsw.gov.au/media/525.pdf

List is a little out of date, but gives you a good run down.
