Ducting??
Ducting??
This morning, I am hearing a Newcastle car or two on the local channel. (78.3875)
Loud and clear....but a bit "head in a bucket".
Not getting the VKG side.
System glitch or ducting?
Something else?
Come to think of it, for the past few days, I have been hearing an occasional snatch of voice from another channel when the operator drops the button. Barely a syllable...just a fragment.

Re: Ducting??
A local car just asked about it....VKG didn't know anything.
Re: Ducting??
The full Newcastle transmissions lasted a couple of hours....but still getting the tiny voice grab from another channel when the operator lets the button go.

Re: Ducting??
I thought I heard a few seconds of ducting a couple of days ago. It was a chopper going to Bankstown after a search. As far as I know there wasn't anything happening locally and I don't think VKG replied.
We quite often get ducting if the conditions are right from Newcastle and Central Coast areas.
A couple of years ago I heard some ducting from the north coast of Tasmania. A place called ? Beach if I remember correctly and I think they might have had bad fires down there at the time. Might of had something to do with smoke drifting north?

Re: Ducting??
I, am pretty sure this one wasn't ducting.
I suspect it is some sort of "crossed line" effect in the police comms system. Induction? Like a signal "bleeding" into an adjacent circuit.
Dunno all the tech terms.

Re: Ducting??
Sounds like they are working on the problem.
An hour ago, VKG announced channels T and O were being combined for a while.
Now comms from both the NC and Midcoast are being heard.
And the Newcastle car transmissions, as well. Not the responses, though.

Always interesting to hear things like that and and what the techs do when fixing them, joining channels etc.

Yes.
Sometimes, they combine the channels in slack times...like early morning.
Or when staffing is a problem.
Re: Ducting??
They announced they were combining channels "for training purposes, this morning....then cancelled because of technical difficulties.
