grabbed this last night, with the Goulburn problems. Probably irrelevant to the usual problems but a quick channel change solved this problem.

yep, i actually heard radio operator refering to it as interference coming form the liason channels. might shed some light on whats happening. they obvioulsy know what the problem is. she was calling up certain cars in certain areas to see if they could hear it and some could some couldnt.

I have heard two distinctly different noises on 468.850 of late.

I have heard a hollow feedback type sound which I have encountered when playing around with my own repeaters & it sounds the same sort of feedback you get when you have feedback from poor separation of tx & rx etc.

The other noise I have also heard on there is a hum loop type noise, which at times sounds like somebody touching the input to an audio amp & I believe this noise is possibly deliberate.....

yeah the scond noise is wierd as you only hear that in an audio type situation. you also get that in old amps with components warming up.
personally though i feel the worst thing was linking W and X together. i know it frees up an operator but since its been linked you get all sorts of wierd stuff on the channel, like arabic music.
