Apologies if I'm behind the 8-ball but I just noticed Channel Sierra has made the switch to AES-256 encryption with the new KID 0x2000

It appears the consoles are still TXing with the old DES-OFB algo but I expect that will change soon, they're probably just tidying-up the stragglers?

Yep entire state switched over this morning to allow AES 256 encryption. Consoles will switch over in a few weeks to allow any units to be upgraded that missed the radio techs. There were also a few other changes, entire state got a new channel plan and renumbering and a few dispatch channels got renamed.

I'm curious why ACMA is showing all VKG licences expire on 01/Jul/2022. No matter when they came into effect, they all expire on that date.

As far as I can see the GRN is nowhere near ready (read: up to their standards) so it can't be that. Maybe it's just a Telco thing and all the licences are getting transferred or something?

For administration purposes a lot of government agencies have a common expiry date. Renewals are more or less automatic and budgets organised to suit.

Consoles at Sydney and Penrith have gone over to fulltime AES this morning by the looks of it on DSD

Interesting... Oak Flats just handed Sierra over to Sydney VKG but the Sydney console is still TXing with the old DES key as well, so the change-over must be on a channel-by-channel basis rather than by VKG centre?
