NSWPF radio now fully encrypted.
NSWPF radio now fully encrypted.
So at 4pm this afternoon (9/12/2020) Channel Yankee was finally flicked over to full digital encryption.Last remaining areas were Bourke, Wanaaring , Engonia etc. After 24 months of work on the western region and 10 plus year in total, the entire NSWPF radio network is finally encrypted. Sad day for the enthusiasts

And you can thank Radio Reference / Broadcastify, not quite so much here in Australia as in the US but the push toward encryption in general has certainly not been helped by their making police and other communications available to anyone with a smartphone.

Re full encryption a facebook poster on "Australian Digital Scanners" (Edward at Coonamble) reckons it was still in the clear this morning, after i enquired about its status there (we have had a back and forward discussion over a number of weeks)

Re: NSWPF radio now fully encrypted.
So what are they doing with Xray now?
If there are no unencrypted channels left to patch into (or soon to be none) and they can't very well encrypt Xray (as other agencies won't have access), are they running Xray on a separate console with a dedicated operator? Seems like a huge waste of manpower considering how little traffic there would be.

Re: NSWPF radio now fully encrypted.
Cartman I'm not 100% sure, im not out that way. But I do know the techs were still doing radio checks at 8pm on Wednesday night. I'm just going of the official notification that was sent out Wednesday Morning. There maybe some slight bugs to iron out. But it's definitely encrypted.cartman wrote:Re full encryption a facebook poster on "Australian Digital Scanners" (Edward at Coonamble) reckons it was still in the clear this morning, after i enquired about its status there (we have had a back and forward discussion over a number of weeks)
Re: NSWPF radio now fully encrypted.
Andrew, Xray doesn't exist anymore well sort of. The link for Westpac or other agency is actually looked after by the Rescue coordinator at VKG Sydney. If there is a job that they need Police assistance they call up on the liaison channel. The RCO puts a message on the appropriate CAD job and is dispatched by that channel. If close enough crews on scene can still liaise with the chopper if needed. The liaison Channel was at Tamworth VKG but when Quebec went digital it was transferred to the RCO at Sydney.Bigfella237 wrote:So what are they doing with Xray now?
