Generally speaking, the higher the frequency the more "line of sight" it is, so UHF and up doesn't tend to do too well in mountainous terrain. But why they didn't go with the 78 MHz range they already have I don't know?lolbananalol2 wrote:What are those high VHF frequencies for?
I'm guessing they are just regular GD channels up in the Snowy Mountains, but I'm not close enough to monitor them. I dunno if they're just seasonal use (there's a couple of police stations up there that are only manned in the winter), or whether they're encrypted, or even if they're solely for police traffic?
