HWP?

Post by brianWE » Thu Aug 21, 2008 10:42 am

Am hearing a couple of new call signs on the NSW North Coast.
Both "North" vehicles...686 and 687. I think. In the 600 group, anyway.
They seem to be operating as HWP units.
One, at least, has an MDT.

Is this new?
Or something I hadn't noticed before?

Actually, there is a bunch of 600 numbers at present.
Haven't heard a 200 callsign all morning.
And some of the voices are familiar ....used to have 200 numbers.

I guess there has been a re-org.

What were they talking about?
Maybe some other type of special operation.

Normal traffic stuff.
But we seem to have three cycles operating in the district, at the moment.
Often there is none.

And, speaking of cyclists, when are those poor buggers gonna get decent radio headsets?
Their transmissions are, at best, barely acceptable.
Often, they give up.

I logged a "North Shore 657" a couple of days ago on Delta when it was being transmitted in the clear on the GRN, which I thought was odd at the time
The 650's use to be parking police a long time ago and even earlier the graffiti task force

These fellas are HWP.
Numbers are in the 680s and 690s.

One, actually, used his old number by accident, today.
Was stressed from a scuffle with a customer.
Apologised for the error.

Only use of a 200 call sign, today.
They have all shifted.

But I do suspect a special Pacific Highway operation....a couple of cars switched to the Grafton channel for a few hours.
And the bikes are unusual. All with "Traffic" call signs.

School hols coming up?
NSW or Qld?

Maybe that.

Wonder if they'll all change back after.

Hi Chrisco, 'parade' is a very politically correct way of putting it :) - it is the rebels on a national run from their Coffs Harbour club room to their Sunshine Coast club rooms at Kunda Park (QLD). Approximately 300 rebels are expected to be in the run.
