"New System"
"New System"
In the past couple of days, I have half-heard references to "getting used to the new system". Seems to relate to CNI checks...maybe others.
Any clues?

Re: "New System"
The only kind of new system I know of is CAD but its been a coupole of months or more since I heard a car refer to it as a new system.

Yes. They stopped complaining about CAD some time ago.
Maybe the "new system" was a changed internal operator procedure.
Some administrative thing.

I wonder if they are referring to the NSW Police now gaining access to the National Police Database.brianWE wrote:Yes. They stopped complaining about CAD some time ago.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2009 ... 463499.htmOffenders who try to hide their criminal histories by fleeing interstate are about to find it much harder.
From today, police in New South Wales will be able to access the full criminal records of people while on patrol.
Under the old computer system, officers could only check offences committed in NSW, and someone who may be fleeing a crime committed in another state could slip through the net.
The Police Minister, Tony Kelly, says the system will now bring up a full history from across Australia.
"[It includes] persons of interest, warnings, warrants, offence history, firearms dealings and offences, protection orders, bail, missing persons and those who might be on the national child offender register," he said.
Mr Kelly says it will make an officer's job much easier.
"Within a few seconds police will have a complete record of the criminal history of anybody they key in right around Australia rather than just in NSW, so now we'll catch those criminals who move from state-to-state to avoid police catching up with them."
Other states will also be rolling out the new system over the next couple of months.

Re: "New System"
Apparently out Central West, the Police Radio System has started using a Voice Recognition System of some kind.
A couple of weeks ago the township of Forbeshad a Chemical Spill at the towns swimming pool. A Security guard during an early morning patrol found liquid running from the pools grounds and stopped to check on it. When he went for a closer look, he stepped into the liquid and his boot sole started melting, so he called the pools manager to report it.
Long story made short, the night before one of the pool staff members while doing the end of day check, accidentally stepped on some pipe work that broke and chlorine started filling a bounded enclosure.
Police were called and when they arrived, immediately called for the Fire Brigade Stating “Chlorine Spilling from Bounded Area onto Roadway”, the Police Voice Recognition System turned this into “Chlorine Spilling From Bundaburrah onto Roadway”, Bundaburrah is a small community about 20 kalimeters out of Forbes, this is where the Fire Brigade was responded to LOL.
