SDRSharp (K5DEV Fork 1.1)

Post by matthewn1983 » Sat Sep 01, 2012 11:10 am

For those of you that use the USB SDR option, and SDRSharp, these guys have added some cool features to SDRSharp, "This release adds two new collapsible panels, "Frequency Manager" and "Scanner", as well as a few internal changes."

Thanks Matt,

Which USB Tuner are you using with this software and where do you get 'em?

It would interesting to look into SDR, certainly a lot cheaper than paying Uniden/GRE $500 each for a scanner!

one of the Ezcap USB TV tuners available on ebay, picked a couple up from a HK seller not long ago for $22ea free postage, was here in 2 weeks, so quite happy! Most sellers are labelling them with SDR or RTL now so it should be easy to find.

Just make sure the Tuner has BOTH the RTL2832, and the E4000 chips in it. Some use an alternate chip to the E4000, and are not suitable.

Very good point - the link below has a list of compatible usb devices. Most common is the ezcap which is found all over ebay.

Just ordered an Elonics E4000 to do this kind of thing. Look forward to getting it
