LRRP mapping with DSD+

Post by kevnerd486 » Sun Jan 08, 2017 2:56 pm

Hi ALL,

So being a hot Sunday I thought this would be when the Surf Life Saving DMR RPT at Maddens Plains on 473.8000 would be busy. Surprisingly I can receive it well here in North Western Sydney. I'm using a discone which is shared by 8 different receivers (two of which are my RTL SDR with DSD+)

So the two pics show the DSD+ screen receiving voice comms and the LRRP screen showing the portable locations. Today i have logged 12 IDs in action between Scarborough and Windang as shown on the map.

This is the only DMR Commercial RPT in Sydney that i have found doing position reporting. Does anyone else know of any others?

Regards

Kev

Very interesting Kev!

Is this mapping a separate program to DSD+ or an option within it?

Andrew,

Look for a file called LRRP in amongst your DSD folder.

Andrew,

Be warned some users of the function use a third party map system that can mean you'll see the data being sent, but the mapping won't work correctly.

Are you feeding the signal straight into DSD+ or is it coming from SDRSharp or the like?

The latest DSD+ release has a software RTL SDR receiver package called FMP24 that feeds via TCP to DSD+. LRRP is another EXE file included with DSD+ and you start that at the same time and it reads a file that DSD creates if it see's position info that it can read.

Its a bit complicated and you need some computer skills, the best way is to create batch files that start all the different programs at once with the parameters required (frequency, SDR freq correction .......) and save them as short cuts on your desktop then its just one click to monitor the system you wish. I have probably a dozen batch files so far loaded on my desktop.

Also those using similar feature on the Connect Plus trunking system will not show up either.

Installed the latest DSD+ today and noticed I am now getting location reports in LRRP from a NEXEDGE48 trunking site.
