Whistler updates 18/03/17

Post by Longreach » Sun Mar 19, 2017 9:29 am

From the RR website, i got the email early yesterday morning.

EZ SCAN RELEASE NOTES

WS-108x/WS109x:
Version 2.19 - March 17, 2017
•Corrected issue when adding an analog conventional channel from the scanlist tab where the settings for NXDN would be displayed when attempting to set the CTCSS/DCS/NAC values.
•Added filters to disable importing of frequencies that are outside of the scanner's frequency range.
•Corrected an issue with creating a new system during the import from the library process where encrypted channels were not being imported when the option to do so was enabled. This required changing how the app handled these settings internally which means that anytime the import options are changed and the OK button is selected on that screen, the selected options will be saved and used until changed.
•Updated all supported bandplans.
•Changed how the app handles entry of frequencies. Previously the app would verify a frequency to make sure it fit the scanner's bandplan and step size within that range. The app now will verify that the frequency is in the scanner's frequency range and then round off the entered frequency to the nearest frequency that matches the bandplan if necessary.
•Added the ability to sort the system listing on the Trunked Systems tab. This feature will sort the list by clicking on the column header. This action only changes the order that systems are displayed, it will not actually change the order of systems on disk.
•Updated informational message when checking for all updates.
•Corrected tab order and tab stops in the library import areas.
•Moved the Import and Clear buttons to the middle of the screens in the library import area.

TRX-1/TRX-2:
Version 3.4 - March 17, 2017
• Corrected issue when adding an analog conventional channel from the scanlist tab where the settings for NXDN would be displayed when attempting to set the CTCSS/DCS/NAC values.
• Added filters to disable importing of frequencies that are outside of the scanner's frequency range.
• Fixed an issue where the frequency rounding process in the UHF range was incorrectly rounding the entered frequency down 3.125KHz below the desired frequency.

Could you confirm Longreach if the AU bandplan has returned to the TRX series? I believe it was selectable from the scanner itself (not software) but disappeared with the previous firmware update.

Whistler Firmware Upgrade SNAFU...
From Whistler Wendy 25/5/17

"We made a few updates to the EZ-Scan software to fix some issues that people were having.
Unfortunately all of our testing machines are not having any issues that some have reported with Windows 7 and 8 so I am not sure if this will address those issues or not. For those that are having the socket time out issue, please let me know if this update solves your issue.

The update is available on the download server and on our website.

As always - we appreciate your assistance in letting us know anything that you encounter. Please use the scannerbugreports@whistlergroup.com email address to report any bugs/issues.

HAPPY SCANNING!

Here is what was fixed/addressed:

•Fixed issue when selecting the Australian bandplan for a trunked system showing the bandplan as blank the next time the data folder was opened.
•Fixed issue when selecting the Australian bandplan on the General Settings tab where the option would not be preserved and the prompt to set a bandplan would appear on the next load.
•Fixed an issue in the bandplan prompt where the United Kingdom and Australian bandplans where not being presented and options to be selected.
•Fixed issue on conventional import where certain frequencies in the air band were being rejected as invalid frequencies when they were in fact valid.
•When importing conventional objects, the result page now has an option to display a listing of items that could not be imported. These items typically have a frequency outside the ranges supported by the scanner.
•Fixed a regression issue where frequencies imported between 450 MHz and 470 MHz were being imported 3.125 KHz higher than they should have been."

Have updated my scanner - Australian band plan issue seems to have been resolved.

Also noticed when landing on a frequency during a Range Search between 380-400 it will correctly enable FM or NFM rather than the AM for any transmission that occurred.

Will have a closer look at some of the narrow frequencies used between 485 and 512 (ie, NXDN)

The new feature to update your TRX-1 from your WS1040-1065 (PSR500-600) is handy too.
Building a nice new profile into my TRX-1 and going from there.
Feature is also available in the EZ-Scan for WS1080.
Cheers

Hi Guys,

Just confirming that the AU bandplan is properly supported now in the TRX-1 and TRX-2 scanners? Also these radios will do dPMR (NXDN) out of the box, as well as the usual P25 and DMR etc?

Cheers,
Matt

Hi Matt,

Yes they do NXDN, I had to do a firmware upgrade on my TRX-1 to get NXDN but I recently bought a TRX-2 and it was ready straight out of the box. They both have a AU band plan but I haven't really studied it to seewhat the coverage differences are.

Regards

Kev
