Crookwell now digital
Hi all,
Just letting you all know the Police in the Crookwell area is now digital. At this stage the analog VHF and UHF channels are are still active.
This now means that channel W is now a full digital channel. from monitoring it appears no one is using the VHF.

ZONE 3 CH 006 NOW P25 DIGITAL. OPERATING FRI 31/05/13
NAC 61F
467.975 MHZ ZONE 3 CH D006 CROOKWELL (REDGROUND)

Re: Crookwell now digital
Thanks Matt, good to know!
Are we taking bets on how long it'll take for them to flick the Ø switch? Although I guess there's not much point while the analog links are still active?

Re: Crookwell now digital
Hi all, yeah I'm watching the VHF system to see if it remains on air. I remember last July when Goulburn went digital the VHF system only stayed on for a day or two.
The only reason I can see it staying on air is for cars from the west?
Not prepared to bet on the switch, too hard to call for me.
Cheers all

Re: Crookwell now digital
The process that happened in Sydney was that the input was encrypted (robotic voice sound) in December 2006 with the dispatchers headset audio being transmitted in analog on the output until May 2008, then flick.
That may happen again, while they tweak the problem areas

Re: Crookwell now digital
Hi all, It appears that the VHF might be slowly going, over the past couple of days it appears only the Redground (Crookwell) VHF site is still active from my usual travels. Given Mt McAllister is now off i'd say so is the Wombeyan Caves site. Cannot verify the rest as they are too remote.
Cheers

Re: Crookwell now digital
Bad news! Encryption turned on today for Whiskey. Could be temporary however, theres been some issues with links/repeaters.
from Z2 Ch123 (can hear console on rid 1204), Goulburn/Wagga cars are encrypted via RID '0', local cars (Mittagong/Bowral) seem to be in the clear via their individual RID.
it may be a different situation when listening from another part of the channel however.
Looks like ESO 10 might be taken out of the picture as well, I can see radios still affiliating to my local GRN site to get their fix, but no traffic shows up on the site from Whiskey.

Re: Crookwell now digital
Hi all, Can confirm Matt's findings. Am sitting here listening to Ch 114 and can only hear the control centre and the Southern Highlands cars. On my local Vote channel in Goulburn I can currently hear all cars and dispatchers. Same could be said earlier today listening to the Yass vote. seeing similar console id's as Matt on the Southern Highlands Vote, however im seeing only 5 on both Goulburn and Yass votes as has always been the case.
Last night however I could not hear the Wagga area. A quick listen to a stream in the Wagga area confirmed that it couldnt hear this area.
Must admit too the new consoles audio sounds a 1000% better than the old ones, lost all the terrible sounds they had.
cheers all

Re: Crookwell now digital
Have a listen to the local cars on the input frequency ie 458-459mhz. I would interested to know if the input is encrypted.
