New TRBO system on Novatel Hombush site

Post by cartman » Wed Sep 22, 2010 8:49 am

Mastercom appeared to have recently installed a new TRBO network on the Novatel site at Homebush Bay

505.5125 - Pulse every 60 secs
506.7750
507.2875
507.8625

Licenced 29/6/10 - 50 watts. Needs further investigation - is it a trunked system?

While researching the Sydney Airport Corp frequencies around Mascot I noticed another Mastercom site at Sydney Airport on 505-507Mhz supporting 5 frequencies.
I believe that this Airport site is TRBO and up and running (had heard a rumour to that effect)
Further digging shows a lot of Mastercom licences set up on the same day and in licence number sequence ..... highly likely that there is a whole TRBO network (trunked??) being planned by Mastercom for the future

It is my understanding, that at this point in time, MotoTRBO is only available as Single Site Trunking, not Networked.

OK - i think i have caught this near the start of the rollout of the sites
I know Homebush still has only one frequency active - which i think means it is available for 2 voice channels
NXDN seems to have had the upper hand in Sydney via some of their big clients like Vertel
At least somebody is running with their opposition TRBO

There will be alot more MotoTRBO sites being rolled out in NSW and across Australia in the Health Industry.

There is a company called InControl that sell a system called CARPS to hospitals who want to micromanage(oops manage) their wardspersons, cleaners etc...

An analogue system was installed at RNSH over 1 and a half years ago after it had been used succesfully across Australia.
N.B. A check of the ACMA indicates no freq's were licensed around the time this system was installed. people can draw their own conclusions from that..

A check on this company's website indicates they are rolling out MotoTRBO as part of their CARPS system.

That development is very interesting
Thanks for that Andrew
The RNS frequency on 492Mhz makes pulse-like noises and explains what i have been hearing, with the occasional anlog transmission

Well yes that would be the one grant, as apparently the CARPS controller can send text messages to the radio like 'goto ward 7c to clean floor' or can use the PTT and talk voice to a person.

What is the exact freq that your hearing the pulses and voice on as i cannot locate it on the acma database...

492.275 192.8 CTCSS SW Area Health Service
Heard them talking a few minutes ago - between C/S "Base" and wardsman
Frequent squarking noises on 492.275 and 492.9000 when there is no voice traffic

PS For some reason RNS is a SW Area Hospital

interesting, RNS currently part of NSCCAHS(Northern Sydney & Central Coast Area Health) but will when the local health networks are implemented they will be part of Northern Sydney.

The SWAHS references i thought were mainly to do with our paging system as its all maintained by IM&T at Westmead Hospital

but its interesting that they are using a SWAHS freq to run the CARPS system which might mean that CARPS is going to be implemented at all hospitals...

Further to my post of October 2nd.

On October 5th, 2010, Motorola announced the release of:-

MOTOTRBO Connect Plus Multi-site Digital Trunking system

which provides for 1 to 6 Sites, with 29 talk paths, and 2,900 users per Site.
