Yeah sort of, but as citabria said, the biggest difference is that NXDN and TRBO allow both users to talk independently of each other at the same time, whereas CTCSS will allow 2 or more users, but only one can talk at a time.

New NXDN control channel gone active in the last few days

493.9750 NXDN - Vertel - Arncliffe - "control channel"

Likely accompanying voice fequencies would include

494.1000
494.4875
494.6750

The Airport Hilton is an interesting site.
It has as far as I am aware

490Mhz NXDN
490Mhz LTR >> which eventually leads to NXDN as a digital upgrade pathway
800Mhz Motorola Type II Trunking
800Mhz TETRA

Interestingly Star City have just added more frequencies to their site in July . At a guess I would say it will be part of the hotel accomodation upgrade project currently happening and due for completion in 2011. Have a hunch they will separate it from the Casino and run it on a second NXDN system ie one of the frequencies below will eventually acquire a control channel. To date all quiet - given that the Casino 5w NXDN signals make the trip into Blacktown on the ridge i am located on - i should hear it

490.0250
490.3875
492.6625
492.9125
493.2625
494.6250

PS ISIS Hotel projects have a casino site frequency 495.125Mhz

I checked the airwaves for new ndxn systems north of sydney and found only the two control channels on 163.5000 and 163.7250mhz that gencom operate on sugarloaf and new lambton (and already reported by garry l). Alison might be able to advise for coffs whether vertel is still running the system but further south there are no obvious digital systems yet (though I did hear a scrambled conservation on 505.0375 in the taree area). Whoops - found another NXDN control channel on the way home today - 164.3875 Gencom Tx Somersby

Gencom have sites at Mt Sugarloaf, New Lambton and Somersby that I am aware of. Cessnock maybe another possibility

Grant

PS Need confirmation which of the frequencies below have the NXDN signal. Likely some will just be analogue or mixed.

Possible NXDN frequencies at Somersby
162.0625
162.1500
162.9250
162.9625
164.3875 "NXDN control channel"
164.7125
