Interesting, there are still a number of largish users up here (SE Q) that are still on it that I can't see jumping to 4G (Ipswich council, Sunshine Coast council and Energex [seeing less and less of them on the system though])

LTE/etc is certainly the way forward for many.

There was discussion here some time back about the ease of buying two way ‘radios’ that you throw a SIM card into, join a Zello private chat, and off you go with wide area two-way coverage where ever there is mobile reception or wifi.

The total cost was far cheaper than business subscriber radio networks, and coverage was generally far, far greater.
