Selling [Rules]

Post by scanSydney » Mon Oct 20, 2008 9:43 pm

Hi all,

Below are some simple rules to follow when selling an item on scanSydney.

For Sale template:
• Item: The full name and model, including year model, colour etc.
• Location: Where the item for sale is located.
• Item condition: Provide full details that potential buyers should know about, what was its previous use, is it damaged, etc.
• Item serial umber: Self-explanatory.
• Reason for selling: Why don't you want the item anymore?
• Price and conditions: How much do you want for it, is it negotiable and what are the payment methods...
• Additional information: What else do we need to know, will it only be sold to someone that is a licensed HAM, what options does it have installed, etc.
• Pictures: Help your sale, if you can’t get pictures please state this, or if it will take a short while to get them, maybe hold off on creating the thread. Please use only your photos, not ones from Google Images or the manufacturer.

Bumping: Bumping a thread is done to bring it back to the top of the page. However, you should not abuse this. Bumping is limited to once every three days, and after 3 bumps, drop the price.

Completion of sale: Once you have sold your item, or found your item, please change to title to either ‘SOLD’ or ‘FOUND’.

Whilst scanSydney doesn't take responsibility for transactions, and the buyer assumes risks involved with trading, we will do what we can to help out members.

Credit goes to alexMc for his brilliant help, in effect opening the forum!

Cheers,
scanSydney

Is it really necessary to include why someone wants to sell their item ?

Whatever you decide, I believe the deleting threads i a bad idea. If a deal goes bad then both parties need a record of what happened.

Create a 'Sold' thread. Once sale is completed just move the thread into there, keeps the sale forums organised and clean, while maintaining the sale elsewhere.

Hmm... makes sense. I'll make a read-only forum named 'Sold' and lock and move everything sold into it.
Cheers.
