Hi all. Many years ago we use to be able to monitor the baggage handlers at Sydney airport.
Is there anybody still listening and if so what system are they using now

Qantas Trunking
Re: Qantas Trunking
There was an 800MHz Motorola Smartnet system running off the airport Hilton hotel. I believe it migrated to TETRA.

Correct, a large number of talkgroups of the Motorola Zeon Digital TETRA network in the 800mhz band. Only recently had their radios upgraded from the old MTP850's to the newer MTP3250 despite rumours that they were going to shut the network down in the not too distant future.

Re: Qantas Trunking
December 2019 and the greater Zeon network is decommissioned by Motorola, with the band being put up for sale to the telco's. That is Telstra and Optus etc.

I got the impression that a lot of Qantas functions were offloaded to groups like Aerocare (now called Swissport).
With regard to the 800Mhz band i thought read somewhere that it is getting reduced to 3Mhz bandwidth instead of 5 ..... you still have mining, oil & gas and other companies using it
