Decommissioning of 384.5 WNA

Post by matthewn1983 » Sat Sep 09, 2017 2:22 pm

Woronora UHF frequency 384.5 is being decommissioned. VHF 135.1 remains
aircraft operating frequency for R485A/B during air serials and now also becomes the
listening watch frequency.
2.8.6.2 Transit of R485 A/B
When transit of R485 A/B is required by civil aircraft, Sydney TCU Manager may
request a release of the airspace.
Make requests by phone when communications are established between
Sydney TCU Manager and the OCS.
When contact between the ship and Sydney TCU cannot be established,
Sydney TCU must contact the FXP Cell or SO3 MARWKPR.
When R485A/B has been allocated for air serials the FXP, warships and aircraft must
maintain a listening watch on 135.1 MHz, and aircraft in R485 may operate on this
frequency.

Thanks for the Bad news. You would think the increase in military air ops that this system would have been needed.
But eliminating a single point of failure will improve safety.
