Anyone know how they send the in-car-video feed back to the broadcast control?

Saw the Race control tower on the TV.Looks like some VHF Hi yagis & small folded dipoles on the roof.Yagis pointed towards the mountain.

It would be interesting to get a port into their LAN as well, not sure what software they're using but I'm guessing it would be some kind of live messaging system?

Image Many thanks and congratulations Dave, unreal job with the streams... #1 stream on the planet for most of the day... well done!

But I have to give a thumbs down to channel 7 for the coverage, they did manage to keep it (almost) live this year but was it just me or did it seem like there was a shortage of cameras? They seemed to miss quite a few incidents and don't even get me started about all the damn ads!

Anyway at least the right cars were up the front when it counted! :D

The same way most the cameras around Mt Panorama are connected to the TV broadcast. They use radio transmitters of course. Typically in the 800 or 1200MHz bands. These aren't really scannable that I know of - unless you have the cash to buy the same gear the TV guys use.

From a main camera switching point they would then use satellite to feed to the TV transmitters.

Or at least thats the TV station anyway. I do believe Bigpond run several other views on their exclusive online content which are transmitted over Telstra's infrastructure.

Nice job on the BathurstScan.com streams this year!

The broadcast LAN? It'd be custom made software.

There was a 3 channel feed on Intelsat 5 which had helicopter, studio and main feed. There was also a few on optus d1 and c1/d3. Looks like a 2.3m+ dish is getting added to my shopping list.

Yea I've been thinking for some time that more interesting scanning could be done on satellite.

Trouble is most of it is video and the hardware isn't setup for scanning as such... and there is supposedly a migration towards encryption much like land mobiles.
