Not having access to a HF receiver, what would be the reception range of those frequencies? Would it be reasonable to pick them up with a basic set up in the eastern states, or would a decent antenna set up be required?

Also, what type of antenna do these aircraft use to TX on these frequencies?

Give The links a go if you don't have a HF rxer it is Web-controlled Radios http://www.chilton.com/radio/others.html and see how you go these are all over the globe. It iss worth getting one though, I have a few and for the money the Degen DE1103, it has a bfo and is about $100 to your door from Ebay and it is very good for its size and price. Regards Richard
