Police are seeking the public's help to locate a man missing at Mittagong, in the state's Southern Highlands.

The 19-year-old local man went missing in bushland around 6pm yesterday (Friday 21 November).

The alarm was raised a short time later and authorities began a search of the area, without success.

The search operation, involving police ground crews, Polair, the State Emergency Service and the Volunteer Rescue Association, resumed at 7.30 this morning.

Police are concerned about the man's well-being considering the wet and cold weather conditions in the region overnight and the missing person's lack of adequate clothing and supplies.

They believe he may be in a state of disorientation.

He is described as white/European in appearance, 183 cm tall with a very skinny build.

He was last seen wearing a tracksuit.

A police command post has been established at the Mittagong V.R.A. headquarters.

Anyone with information about the man's whereabouts is urged to contact Bowral Police on (02) 4862 9211 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
