Fire Season Early
Currently there are major fires in the windsor ( hawkesbury ) area also the Blue Mountains and Londonderry
also Marsden Park @ blacktown.
Maybe some ops channels in operation? if anyone is monitoring.

Re: Fire Season Early
Been listing to what i can throughout out the day.
There was also fire activity up north at Wyong which was getting pretty hairy at times.
Unfortunately no operation channels other then Fireground.
Was anyone listening to any online streams that were covering the fires? links? (other then those on RR)
Also sounds like trucks are having a lot of fun trying to work out what radio channel to go to.
I assume the rfs is progressing quite slow with the roll out of their new profile and its causing a bit of confusion.
Cheers

Crews going to different channels on the same fire, radios cutting in and out, terrible firecom radio operator as well.
"Follow so far ?" whats with this crap ?
Now Firecom is currently giving a weather warning with phones ringing and screeching in the background. Control responds, sorry Firecom, an urgent call came through on another radio can you repeat.
Re: Fire Season Early
Having jut got home I wasn't sure what the best GRN channel would be to monitor.
A quick search on with Unitrunker shows the following sites are broadcasting the following (at 5:45pm):
- Horsley Park: Cumberland, Illawarra, Mcarthur, State Ops
- GPT: Hawkesbury, Cumberland, Macarthur, Warringah, State Ops
Might help somebody trying to get a specific area.

I didnt hear any of the Blue Mountains fire on the RFS channels, i did hear bits and pieces on the FRNSW SO channel however, are they using P25 PMR up the mountains yet? Maybe it was on there.
Re: Fire Season Early
Only aircraft and senior staff on the GRN. Otherwise its just 462.9 and FG chans.matthewn1983 wrote:are they using P25 PMR up the mountains yet? Maybe it was on there.
NSWFR were active on what they call channels 509 & 609 today. They were calling it "fire ground" but had a radio operator from syd comms.

Re: Fire Season Early
509 is a Fireground Simplex channel (425.5000) and 609 is Special Operations 9 (10142)criten wrote:Only aircraft and senior staff on the GRN. Otherwise its just 462.9 and FG chans.matthewn1983 wrote:are they using P25 PMR up the mountains yet? Maybe it was on there.
