Is the reason why teams have to transmit in analogue is so Channel 7 & the commentators can listen in & rebroadcast it to the viewers at home.
I'm presuming the TV station has a Analogue scanner programmed with all the frequencies.

good work so far, streams are sitting in top 50 on RR, audios nice and clear. Got the 2 main streams running alongside the satellite feed, (about 20 seconds difference)

From a colleague as of a couple of years ago, Global TV (who run the OB) have a radio rack with 40 (maybe more now) receivers that go into a audio desk. I do not have the specs of who/what brand they are running. The audio engineer just selects which audio the director wants us to hear.

They'd be crazy not to use Software Defined Radio (SDR) nowadays, beats dragging around several rack cabinets full of scanners!

The analogue requirement seems a bit outdated though, the rules should require clear (un-encrypted) transmission but surely their equipment couldn't be so old as to be analogue only? I wonder if this is a provision for track-side fans?

And I wonder how they enforce this rule? It'd be interesting to start TXing enc P25 from the stands and see who gets blamed for 'secret transmissions'?
