Thanks for the update, I'll add the Hilton and Fox Studios sites. If you could confirm any further frequencies that are still active for these it would be great.

I can get the Qantas site at near full strength from my QTH in the north west, but can't get the Hilton site, so it must be running at a far lower power, directional or be confined to the hotel itself.

EDIT: Of course now that I mention that I get the Qantas site full strength I can't get it all today - typical!

The FOX studio VHF Trunk system is still active but very quiet.
Talkgroups still active:
33264
33360
33520

I have been monitoring the VHF Fox Studios for the last 36hrs via Unitrunker and Trunk88.

Not many radio ids appearing during the transmissions for some reason

Active Talkgroups
32912 Unid
33264 Information Systems
33360 Cleaners
33520 Security
33968 Unid - Maintenance?

33360, 33520 and 33968 operate 24/7

32912 is an odd one

From the trunk 88 log there seems to be 5 different groups feeding into 32912
96 = Motorola 6 (Secure comms)
112 = Motorola 7 (Secure Comms)
32848 = Motorola 2053 (Group Comms) MSEL 1805
32864 = Motorola 2054 (Group Comms) MSEL 1806
32912 = Motorola 2057 (Group Comms) MSEL 1809

Transmissions on 96 and 112 are always 0.5s secs in duration but irregular - possibly security pressing/swiping a location button to signify where they are in their patrol
Obviously 2057 = 802057 etc

I suspect that the Motorola Type II site will probably get replaced by TRBO in the near future, given the Type II won't have support

Thanks cartman and freqwaves for the updates.

I'm able to pick up the Airport Hilton site now, but still can't get access to the Fox Studios site.

The ANZ Stadium site is active and busy this afternoon with the NRL Grand Final.

Suspect that this will be the final hoorah for that trunking system - probably get replaced by 800Mhz TETRA this time next year.
That Stadium repeater is the old Motorola Type I from Pennant Hills that got upgraded to Type II for its relocation to Homebush around 1998

hooray, the poor buggers that work at the stadium might get decent comms at long last...

but if it involves spending some serious $$, I doubt the stadium will bother doing it as last i worked there they could not afford to get alarms fixed for conference rooms they would prefer to pay a guard to sit in there for 12 hrs overnight ( yep i did it, and it was a bludge)

I'm more than 20km's away from ANZ, and I pick it up no worries here.

I didn't hear any complaints over the radios last night, most sounded clear. Maybe it's been upgraded since you were there last, as there doesn't seem to be dramas with comms now?

The point of the note was that the rental Motorola Type II systems are being put to sleep during 2012 (just like the analogue GRN was)
It is not a question of how good the comms is being received but rather the fact that Motorola (who owns these sites at GPT, AAP, Homebush Bay, Airport Hilton and Horsley Park) will not be supporting them at the technician level.
Razorback was put to sleep early because nobody was using the analogue and the TETRA site was already up and running.
Highly likely that Homebush Bay stadium trunking will be most likely TETRA this time next year

Grant

PS The best year for listening was the night Melbourne Storm beat St George in 1999 before 108,000 fans (the only difference was the infamous penalty try).... brawls after the match everywhere .... stadium security trunking talkgroups + police special ops channels in analogue clear made for some great listening.

Hi Grant,

Yeah, understand the site likely won't be there next year, but was just pointing out that the system as it stands appears to still operate well. As with everything though it has reached it's service life.
