WaterNSW / Fish River Water Scheme Radio Network Upgrade - W0044780
Agency WaterNSW
State New South Wales
Type Open Tenders
Category 43221721 - Radio frequency data communication equipment
Description
The Fish River water supply scheme on the NSW Central Tablelands is unique as the only water supply scheme in eastern Australia to transfer western flowing water east of the Great Dividing Range, mostly by gravity. The scheme draws water from Oberon Dam and Duckmaloi Weir and includes 236 km of pipelines and a tunnel under the Great Dividing Range. The scheme also provides water to Wallerawang and Mount Piper power stations, to Oberon and Lithgow councils for domestic and industry use, and to about 230 properties along its route.
Field staff also service and maintain the pipeline from Hampton State Forest to Katoomba Cascades.
The following User Needs cases details WNSW field staff needs:
• Field staff need to communicate with each other when away from the depot.
• Fields staff have a need to communicate with the depot when operating on WNSW assets as well as travelling to and from site.
Currently Mobile Carriage services, Satellite and the NSW Government Radio Network (GRN) do not provide sufficient reliable coverage in the Field of operation.
Whilst the FRWS radio system upgrade and application is a small radio system, limited in size and scale, it will be the first in class for WaterNSW radio system digital upgrade(s). On completion of the FRWS upgrade project, WaterNSW will undertake future upgrades to its other radio system(s) where targeted and often isolated coverage for our operations is required.
