Australian Defense Training Group Selects Damm Technology
Wednesday, June 12, 2019
The Commonwealth of Australia’s (CoA) Directorate of Operations and Training Area Management (DOTAM) selected Damm Cellular Systems’ partner in Australia, Radlink Communications, to supply and maintain a new multitechnology communications system for a new Training Area Safety Network (TASNet), servicing 28 defense training areas across Australia.
Defense will update and improve the existing communications system with TETRA equipment using the latest technology offerings from Damm. The system will consist of more than 100 base stations running Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) Tier 3 and analog mode operating on the same core-connected network and network management platform with no single point of failure.
The equipment will allow the CoA to replace the existing communications system and provide the much-needed updates to the remote training areas, ensuring stable and reliable communications, a prerequisite for the safe and successful training of the Australian Defense Force. The system will be remotely monitored, optimized and managed to ensure the high availability required.
Radlink is an Australian owned and nationally operated systems integration business and a provider of radio technology solutions.
Clearly written by a journalist with no idea about the fact that TETRA and DMR are not the same.
Whatever is installed (it seems to be DMR Tier III) will no doubt be encrypted to AES256 level
