Doesn't sound like that is sustainable Matt. As Quantum discovered you can't keep applying bandaids to a business & try to limp along without any customers with deep pockets. Equipment doesn't last forever & I wouldn't expect the hardware to operate (economically) for far beyond 10 years. Then it reaches the point where without customers you aren't going to upgrade the hardware... so the customers move to the current technology (which in most cases now is digital in various forms). Spectrum is worth big bucks & if ACMA has its way in introducing opportunity pricing you will see single channel analogue networks go the way of the dodo bird- plus 800-900MHz is embargoed... and ACMA see big $s coming from that spectrum.

Cheers,

Richard

there are a number of Type I users on AAP which is now largely populated by type ii users
Type I radios are programmed in as fleet number, rather than radio id/talkgroup
On a scanner set for type 2 motorola systems are displayed as

20416
20432
20448

Bridgeclimb sounds like it has been relocated to the Motorola Solutions DMR system on top of GPT - only the 2 crew/staff channels heard, the climb (Charlie) channels havent been seen, most likely Simplex.

yep your right Matt, Bridgeclimb is on the 12 channel Motorola Solutions DMR Capacity Plus system, Tx GPT Sydney CBD.
I think I have four channels down for them ... Talkgroup 111,112,113,114. Most of the action seems to be on 112.

Just following up on that, Bridgeclimb are using that DMR system, only for staff.. All climbers and staff also have Wireless headsets, im guessing up in the 2.4ghz range, ill try and get someone to take a photo of the headsets this weekend. So you will not hear the history of Sydney Harbour any more.. The traffic on the above mentioned talkgroups are only simply staff talking back to base. Nothing really exciting. On top of that the system is RAS Enabled, so monitoring with a DMR radio is not possible.
