New non-government P25 Site in Sydney!

Post by cartman » Sat Jan 29, 2011 4:45 am

I was somewhat stunned when i stumbled across this one at 4am this morning .... what sounded like a P25 control channel on 500.000Mhz
Did some research and came up with this

Airwave Solutions
500.0000 Tx ABC Tower Gore Hill 10K1F1D 50w - P25 control channel heard
500.2250 Tx ABC Tower Gore Hill 10K1F1D 50w
500.4375 Tx ABC Tower Gore Hill 10K1F1D 50w - P25 control channel heard
500.6500 Tx ABC Tower Gore Hill 10K1F1D 50w
500.8625 Tx ABC Tower Gore Hill 10K1F1D 50w

Not getting a great sounding signal for decode on Unitrunker despite good signal strength.
Might be better during the daytime
Every couple of minutes the control channel goes quiet for maybe 15 secs, either starts up again or hands it over to the other frequency for control channel duties for the duration, then hands it back again to the first frequency after a time

It is not a normal P25 control channel site like GPT
The control channel keeps stopping and moving which Unitrunker is not happy about as it keeps opening a new screen

APCO P25 00001-001 FDMA C4FM Modulation NAC000 Signal inverted
(Note: On 6/4/2011 the site ID shown on a Uniden 396 was 0002h-0101)

Licence was granted in August 2010 so it maybe still in development before going live
Would be interested to hear if anybody else is getting a cleaner decode on this site

Grant

PS The cynical side of me thinks that Airwave Solutions (part of the Macquarie Bank Group) is positioning itself for the longer term government P25 contracts in this country
They have already shown their hand in the UK over the TETRA rollout and at Sydney Airport ( = $$$$)

try running the old NAC decoder on it grant to see what NAC comes up...

I'd imagine if it cannot decode a nac then its not a true p25 channel

I was out and about today, and got to pickup that 500.0000 CC, was pretty scratchy across Sydney, pretty much non-existant up around the Lower Northern Beaches, picked it up at Belrose all the way back to about Top Ryde then lost it again. Doesnt sound anything like the normal P25 CC's on the NSW GRN though. But my DSE96 accepted it and gave me some figures but left them in the work vehicle. think it was like T0101 00003 SYD01 or something similar. (Didn't pick anything up on the other frequencies listed above either, just the 500.0000)

P25 CC's are like they - each manufacturer sounds different since theres no set order for the OSWs to be transmitted in :)

any updates on this site? I was over there a few streets back from that site, and was still only getting about 50-60% reading on the Pro96, on 500.0000, nothing heard on the other frequencies they have registered.

96:SYD01-T0101-00003 <-- pretty sure that was the info the pro96 gave me at the time (ill edit tomorrow when i confirm)
20second sample from 500.0000mhz last week

http://www.radiocomms.com.au/news/40475 ... appointed-

Airwave Solutions Australia has been appointed by FireWatch Australia in the federal government-funded trial of bushfire-detection technology.

As the FireWatch implementation partner, the company has deployed the FireWatch bushfire-detection system and the underlying communications network in the designated trial areas of the Otway Ranges in Victoria and Tumut in NSW.

...wonder if that has anything to do with the current thread.

@cartman/@citibria

Looks like they went back to the original control channel they had setup on this site, the other one wasn't able to be decoded using pro96com, this was taken today from North Ryde (Macquarie S/C)

i got about 3-4 minutes of data dump as well, but not much else in there other then whats shown in those images.

might leave it going a bit longer if i get a chance or someone close enough might be able to leave it running for a while to see if there's any activity on that site?
