Yep fair enough, suppose they are the shorter of the road tunnels, but both have NSWPF coverage, both the X-Ray Liason channel and the local working channel as well, which made me wonder if it was important for the police, must be important enough for at least the Ambulance and Fire Rescue in such instances as an accident or fire.

I can think of a few large shopping centres & public buildings that would be a higher priority... but it all comes down to $$$ & maybe some of that expenditure on interior systems that Police have made should have been shared with the GRN, eh? As the song says "the times they are a changing..."

I'm aware that there are people who strongly believe they should be on the GRN but they are those in the NSW government. The last time I looked Air Services was a federal government agency so that should be a decision for them to make, and not be strong armed by NSW beauracrats. These people are the ones that hold the view that everyone must be on the same radio network, like they haven't heard of terms like "bridging" & "patching". Really, what benefits would the airport fire service get by going on GRN? The GRN has far worse coverage at the airport than their current generation Tait TB9100 based system, and they then have to contribute to overheads that they gain no benefit from...

I was not aware that the 500mhz range also had embargo's put in place as well.

There are at least two embargo's on the 500 MHz range (26 and 51), but they mainly deal with the issue of new licences.

I just hope the embargo's in the 500mhz range will stuff up my former employer when their freq's are due for renewal...

Could they be trialing GRN? Heard them doing radio checks on TG 10111 a few minutes ago.

No, you are hearing them via a cross-band link, they are transmitting on their channel but you are hearing it via the FRNSW talkgroup.

Is that for liaison purposes? And if so does it work similar to D307 between the ACT and NSW?

Exactly the same purpose Matt, except that a cross band had to be used for the ARFF as the frequencies they use were outside of the range of the FRNSW radios. For the past 3 years they have had FRNSW radios on loan and this allowed those to be returned (saving a few $ each month...).
